Course Description:

An interactive, engaging 8 week class for children based on scientific facts and mythic wisdom that tells the story of the Universe/Stars/Earth/Plants/Animals and YOU!

Geared towards 4-12 year olds, their families and all those interested in sharing these

ideas with youth.

Course Dates:

Tuesdays, January 20-March 10th 7 PM ET, each session is about 45 minutes via Zoom.

Format for classes:

  1. Light candle ( fake candle)

  2. Sing “We All Contain A Spark” song

  3. Tell The Story of the Universe with costume using props and interaction

  4. Creation myth and song

  5. Sharing- this includes any drawing they make during the class and anyone who wants to tell the story in their words

  6. Questions, reflections

  7. Turn off candle

Weekly Session Outline:

Week 1:

Hello, Introductions, explain format of class, Teach song, We All Contain A Spark! Tell entire The Story of The Universe with costume.

Week 2:

Tell the story up until the creation of space, time, energy, matter. Focus on quarks forming neutrons and protons, then electrons arriving to create Hydrogen and Helium.

Week 3: Tell the story up until the creation of galaxies, stars and elements.

Week 4: Tell the story up until the creation of our day star, the Sun and the whole Sun

family

Week 5: Tell the story up until the birth of our home, Earth and our nearest relation,

Moon.

Week 6: Tell the story up to the creation of liquid water on Earth and life beginning in the

ancient oceans.

Week 7: Tell the story up until the creation of the variety of life forms up to humans.

Week 8: Tell the story up to today and focusing on the gifts we all bring that add to the flourishing of life.

What students need:

  1. A space they can draw on and a place to listen, imagine, and create with ease

  2. Paper and markers/crayons…

  3. Candle – fake one- that they can turn on
